Opening of Corporal's Qualifying Course

One hundred and seven Police officers currently undergoing the one-month Corporal's Qualifying Course were reminded of the crucial role they play in being ambassadors of the Fiji Police Force.

In opening the one-month course at the Fiji Police Academy this morning, the Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said the rank of Corporal is one that shoulders a lot of responsibility and one that the senior hierarchy depend on.

"At the leadership level we provide the strategic guidance and equip you with the resources needed for your work, however to translate our strategic direction into reality, that's where we rely on you, because you are the very one's interacting and with members of the public on a daily basis and putting into practice what is on paper".

"The way you act, speak and conduct your duties will impact our overall outputs as an organization and that is one of the main reasons as to why we are investing a lot into training of our middle managers and young leaders".

The Acting Commissioner also reiterated the importance of education and training.

"Through training you will understand why certain procedures and processes are in place - and these have been tried and tested and they work for a reason - and at the end of the day it will help us improve our service delivery".

"You can't expect to lead if you don't know your role and the expectations that come with that Corporal's rank.

Continue the learning process whether it is here at the Academy or other learning institutions as it will be useful for you as you move up the ranks".
