Opening of motorcycle training

Twenty traffic officers in the Western Division are attending a Motorcycle Training aimed at increasing the number of qualified riders in the division. Opening the training was the Divisional Police Commander West (DPC/W) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa who said the training would boost visibility as the nation heads into the busy festive season.

He stressed traffic related deaths and accidents continue to be a concern in the Division. “Thirteen, is the number of fatalities in our division, out of the 38 fatalities recorded this year.

I thank the training facilitators for convening this training at this time, noting that the busy festive season is just around the corner, where visibility will be demanded of us.”

“Upon completion of this training, the deployment of more motorcycles will enhance traffic operations, improve response times and enhance visibility. These are three key elements of policing that often trigger complaints against police and service.”

The Divisional Police Commander West wished the officers well in their training.
