H.E. Mr. Takei visits Waterpol

The Japan State Minister for Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Mr TAKEI Shunsuke visited the Fiji Police WATERPOL base in Draunibota, Lami this past week where he was briefed on the work conducted by the Unit in maritime security.

H.E. Mr Takei was also briefed on the utilization of the Maritime capabilities donated under the $5.5 million Japanese Government assistance funded under the Japan Economic and Social Development Programme consisting of the patrol boat M.V. Liganilawa, rigid inflatable boats, rescue boats, diving equipment, underwater communication system and underwater cameras.

Mr Takei assured the WATERPOL Unit of Japan’s continued support towards maritime security policing efforts.
