Varoka Officers attend Workshop

A one-day workshop on "Strengthening Investigation and Customer Service" was conducted for Police officers based at the Varoka Community Post.

Officer In-Charge Ba District Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammed Riyaz acknowledged the initiative in empowering the officers, which would be beneficial to the operations of the Community post in strengthening community and school engagements.

“The community post is here to support the respective mother police station so as community officers you must know your area of operation well to be able to respond effectively when issues arise. This workshop will enhance your understanding of the issues faced by your community and by strengthening networking with supporting stakeholders you can quickly identify solutions to problems that arise”.

Guest speakers were from the Department of Social Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture, and Ministry of Employment, Productivity, and Industrial Relations where they were able to provide more information on the services provided by their respective Ministries.

Course Coordinator and Varoka Community Post Officer Acting Corporal Vipendharan said,"We need to have a good relationship with other government stakeholders to achieve our goals. I thought of inviting them to share their knowledge with the officers so that the community is better served and issues are resolved within the confines of the law”.

Such workshops are in line with the Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew’s intent of empowering frontline officers through training and education to better serve the Fijian community and visitors to Fiji.
