Recruits Longest Day Exercise

183 Police Recruits from the Fiji Police Academy (FPA) participated in the “Longest Day” training exercise by marching 37kilometers.

The route followed by the members of Batch 65 was from Sawani to Wailase Rd, to Laulau Settlement where they visited community members.

Following which they crossed the Wailase creek to Nadina Settlement opposite Baulevu, then to Qiolevu and back to Sawani, and ended at Dokanisuva.

It was a 24hour exercise which started at 1000hrs on Thursday and ended at 0700hrs on Friday.

The exercise is designed to test the Recruits mettle and also prepare them in meeting their obligations when serving out there in the public once they complete their 4 months of training from the FPA.

FPA Commandant, Superintendent of Police Epeli Rikaiwai, whilst receiving the Recruits which included officers from the Tuvalu police service and Nauru Police Force at Nasova Grounds, said they had undergone the tough and long exercise because it was what they would experience as police officers.

“All in serving as police officers will experience tough and difficult situations throughout your policing career, you will face tough terrains, natural disasters and long hours of work, and this exercise is designed to overcome such difficult situations,” SP Rikaiwai said.

“I congratulate you all for completing this task and I hope that you will not make excuses, and will carry out your tasking, when you are called upon to serve wherever you are required to serve out there in public,” he added.
