Meet Your Officer

Meet Corporal Maria Vunivesilevu the Community Post officer at the Wailevu Community Police Post.

The 39-year-old mother of five from Nadavaci village has been the Post Officer at the Wailevu Community Post for the past four years.

During the Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration Honourable Pio Tikoduadua’s official tour to the Northern Division, Cpl Vunivesilevu had the opportunity to discusss openly the challenges faced serving remote rural communities.

However amidst the challenges, the soft spoken officer says being posted to serve rural communities has made her appreciate the policing profession even more.

“Coming out of my comfort zone and working so close with the community here was a turning point in my career".

"I would advise young officers to come out of your comfort zones. Our community are the reason for our existence and wherever we are posted, we need to adapt so we can continue to provide services as they deserve only the very best from us".
