Hailed as a silent worker who conducted his duties diligently without complaints and would never refuse any task given to him by his supervisors, the late Police Constable Waisake Kaivei was known for his dedication and commitment to the work which made him a highly respected member of the Fiji Police Force.
The late Constable Kaivei received his final farewell today and was laid to eternal rest by police officers, family members, relatives and friends and members of his Yavusa (Tribe) of Yasa in his village of Kumi Verata in Tailevu.
A Police delegation led by the Chief of Administration Officer (CAO) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Meli Sateki together with members of the Command Group and comrades joined the grieving family, relatives and friends of the late Constable in the solemn occasion.
Delivering the eulogy on behalf of the Fiji Police Force, the Deputy Divisional Police Commander Southern (DDPC South) Superintendent of Police (SP) Savenaca Vunisa said the late Constable Kaivei was an exemplary officer.
“He was one of those officers who loved to serve the people of Fiji, and it showed in the way he carried out his duties to his utmost best,” SP Vunisa said.
The late constable Kaivei joined the Police Force as a special constable in 2004 and in 2011 marched into the police recruitment training as a Regular Police Officer.
He spent 22 years in the Fiji Police Force doing general policing duties and specializing in highway patrol and had gained valuable experience and knowledge throughout his career.
He had developed expertise in traffic laws, accident investigation, and vehicle safety and was also responsible for ensuring the safety of drivers and pedestrians on highways and roads, responding to accidents, emergencies, enforcing traffic laws and regulations in the country.
The Late Constable Kaivei spent most of his career in the Southern Division Highway Patrol Team as a biker before his untimely passing, and his extensive experience in motorcycle operation and safety, developing specialized knowledge and skills related to traffic enforcement and accident response, particularly from the perspective of a motorcyclist was an asset to the Organisation.
He is survived by his wife Temalesi Leba Vitiavai.
