Police Couple celebrating Ram Navami


A police couple based at Sigatoka Police Station marked the end of Ram Navami Celebrations at their Kulukulu residence by empowering young children to better understand issues that could impact their young lives.

Corporal Razia Begum based at the Sigatoka Tourist Police Unit and her husband Constable Sanjeev Nand based at the Sigatoka Traffic Unit are a Muslim and Hindu couple and since the beginning of the Ram Navami Prayers last week held at their residence, have used the opportunity to talk abput safety issues with young children.

Exemplifying the message of togetherness Corporal Begum, who is presently fasting for the Muslim period of Ramadan, has been supportive of her husband during his holy celebrations. 

Sigatoka Traffic Officer Sergeant Anilesh Prasad who is also a Hindu preacher at the Station said, “We are blessed to be born in a nation with a diverse population because we get to experience and share each other's religions and the couple has shown us this”.

He adds Hindu officers will be spreading the message of the Ramayana to the public this week and they will also take the time to educate children and youths of their communities.
