The first ever Forensic Anthropology training

The first ever Forensic Anthropology training started this morning at Hoodless House in Suva.

Participants included Forensic Pathologists, Forensic Biologists, Histology and Pathology technicians and Crime Scene Investigators from across the country.

Forensic Anthropology is a subspecialty of forensic science that provides examinations of human skeletal remains for medical legal death investigations.

Funded by the Royal College of Pathologists Australasia (RCPA) and the Victoria Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM), the training is being facilitated by Professor Soren Blau and Dr Samantha Rowbotham.

Prof Blau said the training will be an interesting one for the participants from different backgrounds.

She said that the training would mostly be interactive because they as facilitators would love to know more about the environment the participants work in since this is her first time in Fiji.

Dr James Kalougivaki from the Fiji Police Force Foreignsic Department acknowledged the two facilitators and stressed that all participants are eager to learn more over the next three days.
