FPF given UK Training opportunity

Three senior Police Officers have been provided placements at the United Kingdom’s College of Policing to attend a four week International Leadership Programme.

They are Director Narcotics Bureau, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Seru Neiko, Director Training and Education SSP Bereta Naisua and Director Intelligence Bureau SSP Salanieta Radaniva.

The three Directors along with the Acting Commissioner of Police Itendra Nair earlier this week met with the United Kingdom’s Permanent Secretary of State for the Home Office, Mr Matthew Rycroft prior to their departure to the UK this weekend.

The Programme provides participants the opportunity to further develop a critical understanding of contemporary leadership and management skills together with analytical tools to assist them in enhancing their effectiveness within their organizational environment.

The UK College works nationally and internationally with UK government agencies, the commercial sector, inter-governmental organisations, international law enforcement agencies and foreign governments, offering specialist operational policing advice, police leadership guidance and training and development expertise.

FPF Director for Narcotics Bureau SSP Neiko is grateful and excited to be nominated for this program. “Attending this program will further develop my leadership and management skills and my understanding of contemporary policing issues. A better understanding of the issues will ensure that applicable analytical skills are utilized to ensure organizational effectiveness,” said SSP Seru.

Director Training SSP Naisua said it was a privilege to be chosen. “I hope to share the knowledge gained to be able to develop a greater understanding of the learning perspective from the College”, said SSP Bereta.

Director Intelligence Bureau SSP Radaniva said she is honored to be one of a few Fijian Police Officers reconnecting with the UK in terms of Police Leadership Training. “We will make use of this great opportunity for the greater benefit of the organization and the communities we are called to serve,”.

Discussions were also held between Mr Rycroft and Acting Commissioner of Police Itendra Nair on the organisation’s priorities on law and justice training opportunities through the UK College of Policing.

The three will will spend two weeks in London and two weeks with the Greater Manchester Constabulary.
