Virikawakawa Rugby boosted with Sponsor


RACER Freight Services and Axellerate Sports for supporting the Police Virikawakawa Rugby Club with their new set of jerseys and sporting equipment.

The Virikawakawa Rugby club was formed in 2019 after the Eastern Police were requested to register and form a team comprising of Police officers and youths.

The Virikawakawa Rugby Club however does not solely focus on participating in local tournaments, but with the involvement of Police officers from the Eastern Division, the team is also involved in community engagement programs through the Duavata Community Policing through sports pillar.

The team has conducted joint programs with the Rewa Disabled Association, Rewa Care Ex-offenders Association and engaged in voluntary support to Police in various community policing engagements.

The jerseys and sporting equipment were handed over to the Divisional Police Commander East Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Wate Vocevoce yesterday.

Community Policing through sports aims at engaging youths and members of the community througj various sporting platforms to strengthen partnerships in crime prevention initiatives.
