Law enforcement cooperation between Fiji and China


Future directions for law enforcement cooperation between Fiji and China tops the list of bilateral discussions between the Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho and the Senior Ministry of Public Security [MPS] in Beijing, China recently.

The visit is consistent with the Memorandum Of Understanding on Security Cooperation between the organization and the Ministry of Public Security, PRC realized in 2011.

It is part of the overall continuous effort by the Force in strengthening its bilateral engagements with MPS, Beijing.

Fiji with other external partners including the MPS, China are active members of the INTERPOL. This arrangement provides a robust platform for information exchanges with our external law enforcement partners noting the increase in trans-border crimes across the Globe.

China is also a key Dialogue Partner under the ASEANAPOL where Fiji assumes an Observer status with increased law enforcement cooperation encouraged under this regional arrangement.

The visit also included focused discussions on training, People to People exchanges, operation concepts, Joint Investigations on specific transnational crimes with senior MPS officials at the provincial level in Chongqing Province.
