Public Health Infringement Notice


Three-hundred and twenty-one Public Health Infringement Notices (PHIN) were issued between the 21st to the 26th of August with the Western Division recording the highest number of bookings.

Of the 321 PHINs issued, 171 were issued in the Western Division.

The Southern Division recorded 75 cases, East 39 and North 36.

Failure to wear a face covering (mask) recorded 91 cases with the Western Division recording 45 bookings, 32 in the Southern Division, 9 in the North and 5 in the Eastern Division.

Social gathering continues to be a concern with 82 bookings recorded during the 5 day reporting period.

The Western Division recorded 49 cases, 28 in the Eastern Division and 5 in the South.

Breach of Curfew was the third highest with 76 cases recorded.

Fifty-four bookings in the Western Division, 18 in the Southern Division, 3 in the East and 1 in the North.

Failure to comply with orders in relation to the consumption of kava and liquor recorded 28 bookings.

The Southern Division recording the highest number of bookings with 14 cases, 12 in the Western Division and 2 in the East.

Twenty-six people were issued PHINs for failure to comply with 2-meter soci/physical distancing and all were recorded in the Northern Division.

Eight PHINs were issued for failure to wear a mask in a public service vehicle. Seven bookings in the West and one in the East.

Six bookings were made for failure to maintain 50?pacity in a PSV with four cases in the West and 2 in the Southern Division.

For failure to comply with restrictions in relation to entering a containment zone four bookings were made in the Eastern Division.

We reiterate the call by the Ministry of Health of the importance of practicing COVID-19 safety measures.

As stated the shifts in the COVID-19 situation has seen the Ministry of Health manage outbreaks in multiple locations across Fiji and this should be a concern for all Fijians.

We are pleading with everyone to work together in stopping the spread of the virus by simply adhering to restrictions and COVID-19 safe measures in place.
