Closing of Western Community Policing Symposium


The two-day Western Division Community Policing Symposium was officially closed this afternoon whereby participants were encouraged by the Minister for Defense, National Policing, and Security Honorable Inia Seruiratu to continue with a fight against crime and work together for the betterment of our future generation.

Seruiratu spoke at length on the importance of supporting and embracing each other towards the effort of crime prevention.

“We have now experienced the evolvement of the criminal landscape however we have to support and learn from each other.

The need to broaden our knowledge on crime prevention war aspects is needed whether it suits the community landscape or workplaces.

We need to work together”.

He also emphasizes the importance of Community Coordinators' responsibility also known as Crime Prevention Committee Chairs towards coordinating community efforts on the ground.

While urges them on the need to keep pushing for these efforts at the same time encourage them to promote best practices that will help in reducing crime in their areas of operation.

He is sharing that it is not only government and law enforcement agencies that need to be concerned as it is everyone’s responsibility to fight against crime.

Honorable Seruiratu while acknowledged the Force for hosting such an event had also commended the unwavering support rendered by Faith-based organizations, Civil Society groups, and Community Coordinators as well as Regional Policing partners.

He is hoping that the effort towards Crime Prevention will not only end here and participants should continue with the battle for the betterment of our future generation.
