DAV COLLEGE PRIZE GIVING CEREMONY AND PREFECTS INDUCTION

The Acting Deputy Commissioner Itendra Nair called on parents and guardians of DAV College in Suva to understand and support their child's academic aspirations as every child is special in their own unique way.

The A/DCP made the request during the DAV College’s Prefects Induction and Prize Giving Award Ceremonies this morning.

The school had deferred their Prize Giving Award ceremony from last year and opted to hold the two events today.

A/DCP Nair while delivering his official address stressed the importance of parental support towards a child’s academic journey.

“You need to identify and accept that your child may be destined for other career paths and will not end up with an office job”.

“Some have talents and skills that need to be nurtured as they may be more suited for work outside an office environment while some may have a career in sports and arts”.

A/DCP Nair also challenged students to dream big. “Your limit is not the sky, but beyond that”.

“You are all very fortunate to be part of an education system that fully supports your educational needs, something that we did not have during our time”.

He added the key to a successful education and future was to make the right decisions in life.

The 2020 Dux award went to Emi Buli who is now pursuing further studies at the University of the South Pacific.

The DAV College Head Girl appointee is Dirsti Chand while the Head Boy is Parbhakar Bali both Year 13 students.
