STATEMENT

The Fiji Police Force hasn’t recorded any incidents during the New Year Celebrations.

The Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has acknowledged every Fijian that celebrated the New Year for adhering to the laws and regulations and especially observing the curfew hours.

Despite the celebration being different this year, Mr Tudravu said it was good to see that people now understood that curfew in place was for their own health and safety.

The Acting Commissioner said that people should continue to prioritize their safety and should now set their focus on the new school year.

“Parents should now restrict their children’s movement especially for those in the village and should monitor their activities,” said Mr Tudravu.

He is reminding all parents that we are still in the festivity mood where many will be distracted from their daily responsibilities.

The Fiji Police Force will continue to be out there for everyone’s safety.

Acting Commissioner said Police will continue to monitor the roads and continue visitations to villages and settlements.

He said that their Water Police, K-9 Units and other Units in the Fiji Police Force will continue to work around the clock to ensure everyone’s safety as they celebrate 2021.

“However, please be reminded that safety starts with you,” said Mr Tudravu.
