The Fiji Police Force is honoured to have been part of the world’s first United Nations peacekeeping training course tailored specifically for the Pacific region, hosted by the Australian Federal Police at the Pinkenba Policing Development and Coordination Hub.
Last week on the 6th of June, ten (10) Fiji Police officers successfully completed the training alongside 100 officers from 12 Pacific island countries including Timor Leste, all possible through the AFP’s Pacific Policing Initiative (PPI). In addition, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ruci Nasemira boosted Fiji Police Force’s participation as one of the certified UN Instructors delivering the training.
The world’s first UN Police Peacekeeping Training course was tailored for the Pacific region with the vision of building a deployable, Pacific-led UN peacekeeping capability, in line with the Pacific Island Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police desire of having regional deployable capabilities, noting the importance of United Nations Peacekeeping Mission deployments.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu represented Fiji’s Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu during the official closing ceremony last week.
It was an honour to mark this milestone achievement alongside our brothers and sisters in law enforcement from Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services, Kiribati Police Force, Timor-Leste RSIPF, Vanuatu Police Force, Tonga Police, Tuvalu Police Service, Federated States of Micronesia and Nauru Police Force .
