Visit reaffirms FPF commitment to UN peacekeeping

Upon the invitation of the Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu, the senior executive of the Fiji Police Force had the opportunity to meet and discuss the Fiji Police Force's global peacekeeping endeavours directly with Fiji’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (PRUN) Ambassador Filipo Tarakinikini.

Ambassador Tarakinikini was welcomed by the Commissioner of Police and members of the senior executive team to Police headquarters, where he was accorded a quarter guard ceremony of welcome and provided an overview brief of the Fiji Police Force.

Discussions were held on the Fiji Police’s endeavour of increasing its UN Police peacekeeping participation, where the support of Fiji’s Military and Police Advisor (MPA) Colonel Siliva Vananalagi was commended, as it resulted in increased opportunities for the organisation.

The Commissioner reiterated the organisation's commitment towards supporting global peacekeeping efforts, highlighting that Fiji was also actively involved in advancing the same opportunities for regional law enforcement through the Australian Federal Police, and Fiji Police's pool of certified UN trainers.

The Commissioner thanked Ambassador Tarakiniki for championing Fiji's interests in his various capacities, and for accepting the invitation to meet and hold discussions with the senior executive team.
