Two people will be produced at the Suva Magistrates Court today charged with the alleged unlawful possession of illicit drugs.
The two were arrested on the morning of the 1st of April 2025 at Howell Road during a joint raid conducted by the Southern Division task force, Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU) and Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Department, whereby several small zip lock plastics containing white crystals tested positive for Methamphetamine were seized.
The two suspects, a 37-year old man and a 36- year old woman have been jointly charged with unlawful possession of illicit drugs.
They will be produced at the Suva Magistrates Court today.
Operations Sasamaki continues throughout the five policing divisions with farm raids and arrests for unlawful possession of illicit drugs continue to be recorded for both white and green drugs.
Farms are being discovered in the North in the Savusavu and Tukavesiarea of operations, in the Central Division the cultivation of marijuana remains focused on Kadavu, while in the Western Division in Navosa.
Mop up exercises revisiting known drug cultivating areas have also yielded positive results.
Arrests for unlawful possession have been made in all five divisions as police officers continue to put pressure at road blocks by conducting snap checks as well as searches on people loitering in major towns and cities.
The Fiji Police Force is also assisting the Fiji Corrections Services efforts of seizing contrabands in the form of illicit drugs with thorough checks conducted by K9 Unit on remand prisoners.
The Fiji Police Force remains focused on disrupting, destabilizing and destroying the illicit trade with community policing efforts running parallel to address the root causes to prevent further harm in our communities.
