26year old woman charged for scam

The Fiji Police Cyber task force has charged a 26-year old woman residing in Nadi for a case of Obtaining Financial Advantage by deception.

The investigation revealed that the victim during the month of April 2023, sent money via a mobile money transfer app for an investment opportunity he came across on Facebook.

After exchanging messages, the victim was convinced and sent $500 to the number provided.

The accused then transferred the said amount to another individual who investigators are also pursuing.

The matter was reported at the Nasinu Police Station after the victim did not receive his return of investment and after repeated attempts to reach out to the accused were futile.

The accused will be produced at the Nadi Magistrates Court today. -
