It's a Team Effort

The Acting Commissioner of Police whilst opening the Station Officer and Station Sergeants Course today, called on the participants to work together for the sake of improving services to the Fijian public and visitors to Fiji.

Acting Commissioner Juki Fong Chew did not mince his words when he outlined a number of concerns about service delivery that continue to be raised by members of the public.

Acting Commissioner Chew said issues either positive or negative, are reflective of the entire organization and not just one individual.

“Leadership, competence, professionalism should guide the way we conduct our work. Policing is not an individual effort or responsibility, it’s a team effort. I cannot do it alone, and rely on you as station officers, station sergeants and officers in charge to guide the police officers on the frontline”.

“You can only provide the proper guidance when you know your responsibilities. Benefits are coming our way and we have the support through budgetary allocations for our work, but you can only be effective when you understand what you are supposed to be doing”.

The Course which will run for one month will cover topics relating to the roles and responsibilities of Station Officer and Station Sergeants.
