public submissions on the review of the Police Act 1965


The Ministry of Policing with the Office of the Solicitor General and the Fiji Police Force, has called for public submissions on the review of the Police Act 1965 which has started today at the Suva Civic Center.

Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said a nationwide consultation will be held in various towns and cities in order to gather views on potential improvements to the current Police Act.

“The landscape has change over the years and this nation-wide exercise will assist us to improve our Police Act to suit the time and the environment that we are in, at the moment.

It will also assist in shaping our Police Force for the future,” said Mr Tudravu.

Mr Tudravu said the review aims to modernise the legislation to meet current policing needs and community expectations.
