Man Charged for manslaughter

An Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Inspector has been charged for one (1) count of Manslaughter Arising from Breach of Duty - contrary to section 240 and 241(5) of the Crimes Act. 

This is in relation to the death of a 21-year-old woman who fell from a ferries wheel in Suva in June, 2023. 

The charges have been endorsed by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP). 

The Fiji Police Force is working towards locating the second accused.     

The 34-year-old man has been formally charged and will appear at Suva Magistrate Court today.
