FROM BA TO KADAVU

Meet 22-year-old Constable George Gukirewa originally of Votua Village in Ba and currently serving at the Kadavu Police Station for the past 2 months Constable Gukirewa recently graduated from the Fiji Police Academy in November last year as a member of Batch 64 and Kadavu is his first posting.

A product of Xavier College in Ba, he is the 2nd eldest in a family of four brothers, and both parents and brothers are living in Votua while he serves in Kadavu.

He adds that serving in Kadavu comes with its challenges but one that he is willing to meet head on.

“Being away from my parents and family is a challenge, and to start my police career here in Kadavu, where I am still getting to know the community and its people is not easy,” he says. “

But I am enjoying it, and I know whatever lesson I learn from here, will take me a long way in my career as a police officer, and build up my life as well,” he adds.

With the start of another school year around the corner, PC Gukirewa has some advice for parents and guardians.

“Parents look after your children and protect your loved ones, especially since school is about to start soon."
