A Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP) Women’s Advisory Network (WAN) tradition is the garlanding of the ‘ula tifa” signifying the appointment of a new Chair.
This tradition was witnessed again after a lapse of two years during the 17th PICP WAN Conference currently underway in Nadi at the Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa Although current Chair Fiji Police’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bereta Naisua has held the post for two years since 2020, this year's Conference was the only chance to continue the tradition as restrictions had impacted WAN's ability to meet.
The ‘ula tifa’ will be passed on to the incoming WAN Chair from the CNMI Department of Public Safety at the end of the two day Confrence.
