The first day of the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP) Women’s Advisory Network (WAN) Conference came to an end with the delegates from the 21 member countries urged to find their voices.
Speakers included the PICP WAN Lead Commissioner Mostyn Mangau from the RSIPF and Amanda McCormick the Director of the Pacific Faculty of Policing.
The PICP Chair and Fiji's Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho welcomed the WAN delegates to Fiji and wished them well for their 2-day conference.
The highlight of the day for the women officers and observers was the opportunity to hear from the Samoan Prime Minister the Hon. Fiam? Naomi Mata’afa who spoke at length about leadership challenges she faced as a woman from a young age.
The Hon. Samoan Prime Minister said Pacific women faced unique challenges, but they should never be looked at as an obstacle that could not be overcome.
The Hon. Prime Minister wished the delegates well for their two day conference.
