WAN CONFERENCE BEGINS


Networking, forging new friendships based on mutual respect and collaboration, will be the focus for the coming week during the 49th Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police Annual Conference which gets underway today with the Women’s Advisory Network (WAN) Conference.

Delegates for the PICP Conference WAN were welcomed last night by PICP Executive Director Nicholas Brown ahead of day 1 of their Conference at the Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa this morning.

The WAN supports the advancement of gender equity in Pacific police services.

Some notes about the WAN

1) All PICP member countries / territories have a Women’s Advisory Network with a nominated Chair.

2) The WANs may operate differently to each other in relation to their jurisdiction, funding, size and preferred communication method.

3) Annually, all the WAN Chairs meet to discuss regional WAN priorities and actions.

4) The Chair of the WAN Chairs is from the PICP member country / territory who is hosting the PICP conference.

Fiji Police's Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bereta Naisua is the current Chair.
