Joint Effort with Successful Arrests

Joint efforts by Divisional Task Forces resulted in the arrest of two people alleged to have been involved in a series of robberies and burglaries on Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.

Chief Operations Officer (COO) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abdul Khan said coordinated efforts between Divisional Task Forces resulted in the arrest of the two alleged to have committed several burglaries and robberies on the two main islands.

ACP Khan said the arrests were made by the joint taskforce in Seaqaqa whereby the suspects were hiding in a cane field.

“The Task Forces had been pursuing the suspects and following recent cases of burglaries and robberies in the Labasa area, joint efforts shifted to the Northern Division”.

“The arresting team have also made a number of recoveries of items alleged to have been stolen from 5 robbery and burglary cases recorded during the months of July in Labasa”.

ACP Khan said the Task Forces have increased their momentum on targeting receivers who provide a market for perpetrators of robberies and burglaries.

“We have arrested a number of alleged receivers of stolen goods and we are putting pressure on these illegal markets.

We anticipate the migration of criminals and we are issuing a warning that we will get to them”.

The two remain in custody as investigations continue.
