The Fiji Police Force’s Education and Training arm achieved a major milestone this past week after receiving a Full Registration Certificate from the Fiji Higher Education Commission.
Fiji Higher Education Commission Director, Dr Rohit Kishore said this was a milestone achievement for the Fiji Police Force and it also opens a lot of doors as a registered institution.
“Now we will soon see Police Officers graduating from their own institution with a bachelor’s degree in Policing, Management and other areas,” said Dr Kishore.
He adds that the Commission will always be on hand to assist the Academy staff.
The Commission regulates the registration and operation of all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), ensuring they meet quality standards and guidelines that reflect national and international imperatives.
It is also responsible for establishing and maintaining the Fiji National Qualifications Framework which enables the qualifications to be measured both in Fiji and internationally.
Fiji Police Force Director for Operations Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kasiano Vusonilawe said the achievement marked the end of a long period of sacrifice by the Academy staff.
“The Academy has come a long way since the attainment of the certificate of recognition on the 17th of May, 2011.
A lot of hard work was out in to ensure the next phase which was the six month probation registration between the end of September 2021 to 29th of March, 2022.”
Since the attainment of the Certificate, the former Director Training said the Force had two batches of Police Officers who had passed out with Certificates in Policing Level 4.
He adds this achievement is in line with the Commissioner’s intent focusing on training.
“Fijians are more knowledgeable of the law and by equipping our officers with the knowledge of attaining this higher qualification, they must be able to provide the service reflective of the qualification they possess”.
