Commissioner's Book Prize Winner Batch 63

Police Constable Beni Marama Kakaivalu was awarded the Commissioner’s Book Prize Award during the Basic Recruits Batch 63 Passout Parade at the Nasova Grounds today.

The soft spoken officer from Matainasau Village, Wainimala in Naitasiri with maternal links to Nasaucoko, Navosa, says his biggest inspiration in joining the Fiji Police Force is his 80-year old grandfather.

"It's an honour to receive the Commissioner's Book Prize and even though my grandfather could not make it to the Passout to see me, I know that he will be extremely proud of my achievement and I dedicate this honour to him".

The 22-year old former Saint Thomas High School student is also pursuing further studies in Law at the University of the South Pacific and says he is eager to start his life of service when he begins work at his new posting at the Nakasi Police Station. "

At the beginning it was difficult transitioning from civilian life to being a member of the disciplined force, but after learning more of what the policing profession is all about, I am excited about what lies ahead for my life of service to Fiji".Â
