SSP BULIMAIBAU ATTENDS SWIRPO


The Divisional Police Commander West (DPC/West) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tomu Bulimaibau had the privilege of attending the first ever Senior Workshop on International Rules Governing Police Operations (SWIRPO) facilitated by the International Committee of the Red Cross in Jordan.

SSP Bulimaibau was one of the 64 Police and senior security officials who attended the workshop on how to enhance protection for those affected by situations of violence and conflict, and ensuring the respect for fundamental principles of human rights in the conduct of operations by law and security officials.

According to Sarah Avrillaud, the Head of Delegation ICRC Jordan, SWIRPO was organized to put focus on concrete measures to ensure compliance of law enforcement operations that respect and protect human dignity as well as upholding human rights.

The Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho thanked the ICRC for its continuous support towards the organisation’s efforts in enhancing its compliance to human rights in accordance with international best practices.

Brig-Gen Qiliho said such opportunities to network and engage with international Police and law enforcement officers is appreciated, as Fijian officers are able to share knowledge and experiences that stand to benefit their work having a broader understanding of security issues.
