Senior Executive Development Strategy Workshop Ends

The three day Police Senior Executive Development Strategy (PSEDS) Workshop supported by the Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM) Pacific Faculty of Policing (PFP) ended at the Hilton Resort in Denarau, Nadi today.

The Programme is the third in a series of leadership trainings supported by the Australian Institute of Police Management's Pacific Faculty of Policing and is aimed at harnessing individual leadership capabilities, with the expected outcome of enhancing cooperation and collaboration efforts of members of the senior commands towards building a stronger workforce.

The three day Programme was attended by the Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho, Deputy Commissioner Itendra Nair, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sami Surend, ACP Aporosa Lutunauga, ACP Abdul Khan, ACP Sakeo Ganivatu, Director International Relations Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ulaiasi Ravula, SSP Seru Neiko and SSP Bereta Naisua.

The Programme enabled the senior Command to openly engage and discuss personal and professional strengths and weaknesses, and were encouraged to continue the dialogue process to be able to empower those under their command.

PFP’s Director Facilitation Rod Smith says leaders who are able to come together and contribute through their own individual strengths for the collective good of the organization, would greatly assist efforts in building an organization and workforce that is based on shared trust and enhance cooperation and collaboration.

Smith said he is excited to see the changes that will take place amongst the senior command members, now that they have been able to develop a better understanding of each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho while acknowledging the support of the PFP team, said as leaders, it was now up to them to ensure sustainability of the Programme and lessons learned.

The Pacific Faculty of Policing (PFP), a joint Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM) initiative, brings together police leaders from across the Pacific for professional, leadership and executive development opportunities and enhancing policing leadership capabilities to manage current and emerging security threats in the region.
