Former Commissioner laid to rest


The Fiji Police Force family today farewell one of its former Commissioners, the late Mr. Jimi Matai Koroi.

The Police Delegation was led by the Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho who was later joined by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Commander, Major General Jone Kalouniwai and Assistant Commissioner Corrections Salote Panapasa.

Mr Koroi was born on the 09th December, 1944 and hailed from Nawaikama Village, Gau in the Lomaiviti Group.

He was enlisted into the Fiji Police Force on the 13th Day of July, 1964 and had risen through the ranks until he had reached the rank of Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police in 1988.

Mr Koroi is a former Divisional Crime Officer/South (DCO/S) and West (DCO/W).

He is also the former Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and is also the former Chief Operations Officer (COO).

On 10th January, 1991, he retired from the Fiji Police Force on Medical Grounds but joined the RFMF in April later that year as a Lieutenant Colonel.

On the 06th of December, 2006 he was appointed the Commissioner of Police until the 30th of September, 2007 when he resigned.

From January to September, 2013 he served as a Special Advisor to the Commissioner of Police then, Brigadier General Iowane Naivalurua.
