Opening of BRC

One hundred and eighty-five Police officers undergoing the Basic Recruits Course will be the first batch of officers to also graduate with a Certificate 4 in Policing.

Opening the four-month course this morning was the Deputy Commissioner of Police Itendra Nair who congratulated the officers for being the first batch to pilot the course.

Last year twenty-six officers based at the Fiji Police Academy graduated with Level 4 Teaching Certificates from Fulton College in order to be able to deliver regional and internationally accredited training since the Fiji Police Academy was first registered with the Fiji Higher Education Commission in 2011.

The 185 recruits currently undertaking the Basic Recruits Course will at the end of the training be the first batch of Fijian Police officers to graduate from the Fiji Police Academy with a Certificate 4 in Policing.

DCP Nair in welcoming the officers said policing was a calling and officers would need to sacrifice a lot of their personal time as a life of service meant having to put the needs of others before their own.

The Deputy Commissioner said no one was indispensable and called on the Recruits to be humble and appreciate the opportunity given to be a member of the Policing profession.
