AFP Assistance

The Fiji Police Force received another two drones made possible with the assistance of regional partners the Australian Federal Police and leading developer and service provider of emerging technologies in the South Pacific, Skyward Industries based out of Namaka, Nadi.

AFP’s Acting Detective Superintendent Chris Burgess commended the efforts of the Fiji Police Force in utilizing technology to maximize operational effectiveness.

“We know that technology alone doesn’t solve our problems but the way people apply the technology makes a difference and the AFP commends the Fiji Police for its innovative and effective ways of using unmanned aerial vehicles as a force multiplier to great effect”.

Acting Detective Superintendent Burgess said the Fiji Police is a regional leader in embracing technology for maximum impact on operational effectiveness.

“The Fiji Police Force is an example of excellence in the use of technology in the region and once borders reopen we hope you will share your experiences and knowledge with neighbours who have shown interest in acquiring the same technology”.

The Acting Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu thanked the Australian Government and the AFP for their continuous support and in helping the Fiji Police Force.

“We thank you for supporting our efforts of improving our operational efficiency through the use of technology”.

“Our major operation in Kadavu and Navosa would not have yielded the same results if it were not for the deployment of drones and we are truly appreciative of your support not only through the acquisition of these drones but also the provision of training provided by Skyward Industries “.

Skyward Industries in partnership with the AFP have been conducting Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Training or Drone Training for officers from the five policing divisions and specialized Units.
