Supervision of Children


Parents are once again requested to keep a close watch on their children at all times following two incidents which resulted in the unfortunate death of a 1year old while a 2year old child is admitted at the Lautoka Hospital after sustaining burns.

A one year old child was found lying unconscious outside his home in a settlement in Nasau, Ra on Friday morning and is believed to have fallen from the stairs of their home.

He was rushed to the Nasau Health Center and later transferred to the Lautoka Hospital where he passed away on Sunday morning.

In another incident a 2year old child is admitted at the Lautoka Hospital with 18% burns.

The victim accidently sat in a hot pot of soup which was left unattended in their home.

The incident occurred in Mataso, Ra on Saturday afternoon.

Police are once again reminding parents to keep a close watch on their children and be aware of safety hazards in and around their homes.
