officers graduate from Fulton College

Twenty-six officers based at the Fiji Police Academy graduated today with Level 4 Teaching Certificates from Fulton College.

Director Training Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kasiano Vusonilawe said the graduation is significant in enabling officers pursing studies at the Academy attain internationally recognized qualifications.

“In 2011 the Fiji Police Academy was registered with the Fiji Higher Education Commission however the courses delivered were not recognized internationally and in order for us to be accredited we needed to meet a set of requirements one of which is for our trainers to undergo training provided by Fulton College”.

The training facilitated by Fulton College was conducted over four months in an effort to enhance the capabilities of the trainers based at the Fiji Police Academy.

After the newly modified courses and the training of trainer course is completed and recognized by the Fiji Higher Education Commission, the Academy’s reputation as a leading Police training institution in the region will be further boosted as Certificates, Diplomas or Degrees in Policing attained at the Academy will be recognized locally and internationally.

SSP Vusonilawe said the next phase of attaining accreditation with the Fiji Higher Education Commission will be decided in December.
