Diwali Celebration

“It's time you remove the darkness of hatred from your life and begin to shine the light of love from within.’’ This was the message delivered by the Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu during Diwali Celebrations at the Fiji Police Headquarters earlier this week where he urged Police officers to reflect on the meaning of the Festival of Lights by ensuring good triumphed over evil during the execution of their duties. The Acting Commissioner reminded those present that they are a beacon of light and hope to those who are troubled and find themselves facing dark and difficult situations. He also stressed that the festival of lights was all about sacrifice and love and was also an opportunity for members of the organization to reflect on the journey that they have been on together as a policing family. “Evil will always try to find a way to derail our progress and divide us – and in the spirit of Diwali or Deepawali, we need to let light and the goodness of our hearts determine the way we conduct ourselves”. “Take away the unnecessary pettiness and ill-feelings you may have for someone else and let us be driven by the light that embodies the spirit of Diwali to do good and recognize the good in others that we work with and call our second”. Similar Diwali celebrations were held in the Western, Northern, and Southern Divisions.
