Bus Company Visitation

Visitations were conducted to bus company operators throughout the week to ensure the incidents which occurred last week were not repeated.

The Chief Operations Officer Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abdul Khan said the visitations were conducted in the Southern, Central, Eastern and Western Division to address issues of concern highlighted recently on social media.

He said both operators and drivers were asked to be mindful of the safety of the travelling public and at the same time said Police would not hesitate to take action against passengers for unruly behaviour and conduct if drivers sought Police’s assistance in difficult situations.

ACP Khan said Divisional Traffic Officers who conducted the visitations assured the bus operators that they would assist if incidents were brought to Police’s attention.

He is also calling on members of the public to play their part and celebrate responsibly and avoid repeating what transpired last week as it will not be condoned.
