Nine Fijian Police Officers who are pioneers of the Australian Institute of Police Management’s Foundation Strategic Management Studies will be graduating soon.
The nine officers are the first batch of Fijian Police officers to have been selected to be part of the study program with the AIP’s Pacific Faculty of Policing (PFP) program which is a joint Australian Federal Police and AIPM initiative.
The PFP initiative brings together police leaders from across the Pacific for professional, leadership and executive development opportunities and enhancing policing leadership capabilities to manage current and emerging security threats in the region.
The Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu commended the officer’s efforts for successfully completing more than 90% of their studies in the midst of a demanding 2020 operational year.
A/CP Tudravu said he has received positive feedback from the PFP Director Amanda McCormick.
“Your success in this program has opened doors for more study opportunities for the Fiji Police Force and another ten young aspiring leaders will be given the same opportunities to study with AIPM”.
“A lot of work was put in to secure our study placements with the AIPM and the onus is on us to take full advantage of the opportunities given to train our future leaders”.
A/CP Tudravu said the AIPM’s Pacific Faculty of Policing’s study programs will help to address the current issue of training young leaders.
“Succession planning is a key priority for us at the moment, and in order to fill the gap between the senior officers and young leaders study opportunities offered by the AIPM will augur well with ongoing efforts”.
He adds the support of the hierarchy will be behind those pursuing further studies as it is a valuable opportunity that cannot be missed.
