OFFICERS SECONDED TO PCLEC

Three senior women officers have been seconded to the Pacific Community for Law Enforcement Cooperation (PCLEC) Delivery Coordination Team (DCT) supported by the Australian Federal Police.

The three are Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Amelia Rokotuivuna, ASP Aseri Nakibo, and ASP Helen Susie and they make up a team of eight personnel who are based in Canberra, Solomon Islands, and Norfolk Islands.

The work of the PCLEC-DCT will be overseen by the Pacific Police Department Program Regional (PPDP-R) Acting Coordinator International Command Ms. Lautoa Faletau who is based in Canberra.

Other team members include Bernard Foster and Adam Laveta based in Canberra, Solomon Islands Police's Senior Inspector Francis Ramoni, and Ms. Kate Weaver based out of Norfolk Island who will look after Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning.

The team was supposed to be working out of AFP's headquarters in Canberra, however, travel restrictions brought about by COVID-19 had impacted initial plans with the team now having to work remotely from Fiji Police Headquarters.

The PCLEC DCT is responsible for administering the work of PCLEC from project research and initiation, planning, monitoring as well as advocacy and representation in various Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police jurisdictions.

The PCLEC concept was formulated at a Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police meeting aimed at consolidating regional, trilateral and bilateral Police development through a decentralized model and is a regional coordination mechanism that supports capability development in law enforcement priority areas.

In welcoming the team members during their official virtual meeting this morning, (PPDP-R) Acting Coordinator International Command Ms. Faletau said the strength of standing together to support each other is the principles of the PCLEC initiative focusing on police development regionally.
