The late Acting Assistant Superintendent of Police Elia Waqasoqo, was laid to rest in his village of Bouma, Taveuni yesterday as family, relatives and comrades bid their final respects to an officer who was described as a loyal, dedicated officer who was a great friend to all.
The Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu led a Police delegation to Bouma, Taveuni where they traditionally handed over the body of the late senior officer who passed away on the 1stof October whilst studying at the Indonesian Sespimen Staff College in West Java.
Delivering the eulogy on behalf of the Fiji Police Force was the Director Criminal Investigations Department SSP Mesake Waqa who said the late officer would be missed by comrades as he was an experienced investigator and a great team leader.
He said the late ASP Waqasoqa was not only known with the policing circles in Fiji but abroad and this was testament to his personality as he was one who would quickly make friends and forge life long bonds with people of all walks of life.
The late Inspector Waqasoqo was based at the Criminal Investigations Department’s Economic Crime Unit before he departed Fiji on the 5th September 2019 for a year of study at Indonesia’s Sespimen Staff College in West Java.
He is survived by his wife and six children.
