Gau Fiji Day Celebration

Fiji's 50th Independence Day Celebrations on the island of Gau was celebrated with a series of sporting and team bonding exercises for members of the Tikina Sawaieke Duavata Youth group, Police and other Government stakeholders with the aim of strengthening community partnerships to help the youths realise their 3 Year Yaqona Farming Plans.

Police Officers based at the Qarani Police Post organized a mini Volleyball tournament at the Nawaikama Primary School Compound followed by a meeting for youths, traditional leaders, religious leaders and various Government stakeholders.

In line with the Duavata Community Policing initiative, the youths used the opportunity to identify ways that Police can assist towards the 3year program.

The success of the tournament was largely due to the support of traditional leaders, religious leaders as well as members of the business community.

Police officers based at the Qarani Post say they will work in partnership with the youths to ensure they are able to reap the rewards of their hard work and sweat in realizing their 3year Yaqona Farming Plans.
