Marist Champagnat Institute has become the latest educational institution to sign up for the Fiji Police Force’s Crime Stoppers Scholastic Program.
The launch also marked the official Fiji 50thIndependence Anniversary Celebrations.
Officiating the double celebration was the Director Community Policing Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bereta Naisua who acknowledged the school heads and management for choosing to partner up with the Fiji Police Force.
“I find it fitting that on the eve of our 50th Year of Independence as we look back on how far we have come as a young nation – we are also marking this day to path a new way forward for sake of Fiji’s future generation”.
“I wish to congratulate the school heads and management for having the foresight of incorporating and nurturing civic pride at a young age through the implementation of the Fiji Police’s Crime Stoppers Scholastic Program”.
SSP Naisua said age was no barrier to making a positive change.
“Today I ask you to take the same patriotic feeling that you have for your nation – and channel that to your communities and here for your school”.
“Remember you are never too young to make a difference and we have great examples of young leaders – some younger than you who have gone on to the world stage to share their messages of hope and they all started from somewhere”.
She also called on teachers and newly badged Crime Stoppers board members to lead by example.
“Let us work together to give our children - the future generation of our beloved Fiji their own 50years to be proud of”.
“Let us unite in the same spirit of patriotism to provide them the safe community that they deserve - so that 50years from now - as they celebrate Fiji’s 100th Anniversary of Independence – they can look back and remember us as the leaders who fought to make their communities a safer one to live in”.
