Fiji Police Headquarters staff today joined in on the spirit of Fiji's 50thIndependence Anniversary Celebrations with a small morning tea to commemorate the event.
The Acting Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu said he still has fond memories of the day Fiji gained Independence on October 10th 1970.
“I can still remember the day clearly as a young boy walking on gravel road from my village to buy bread and butter and then we all came down near to Thurston Garden where we sat down and ate our bread and waited for the arrival of the Royal entourage”.
“I consider myself fortunate to have been able to witness the ceremonies back in 1970 and blessed to be here with you all as we celebrate our 50th Independence Anniversary”.
The Acting Commissioner used the opportunity to reiterate the importance of service delivery.
“As members of the Headquarters Division we must never lose sight of the importance of our roles and our duty to look after the welfare of the men and women who are serving out there in the Divisions”.
“Some of us will not be around when Fiji celebrates its 100th year of Independence but we can play our part by working hard to help create a safer environment that the future generation will have to enjoy Fiji’s 100th year of Independence”.
