SENIOR OFFICER COMPLETE AUSTRALIAN STUDIES


Senior Superintendent of Police Mesake Waqa has today taken up his posting as the Director Criminal Investigations Department after successfully graduating from Sydney’s Macquarie University with a Masters of Criminology.

SSP Waqa spent the last 18months studying at the prestigious learning institution ranked among the top 1% of Universities in the World supported by the Australian Government.

The Masters of Criminology’s area of studies included fraud, corruption, domestic violence, cybercrime and helps with improving understanding of those who commit the crimes, how society responds to such crime and how the impact of crime can be alleviated.

The degree helps develop skills in advance criminology theory, applied criminological research and criminal justice policy analysis.

SSP Waqa who is originally from Burebasaga Village in Rewa has served for more than 31years as a member of the Fiji Police Force.

Having spent most of the 31 years with the CID the Acting Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says SSP Waqa’s experience will complement knowledge gained from his studies at the Mcquarie University.

The Acting Commissioner also acknowledged the Australian Government for providing opportunities for senior and middle managers to further their studies in specialized fields.
