Twelve Market Vendors and Farmers Association have joined crime prevention


Twelve Market Vendors and Farmers Association ?have joined crime prevention efforts through the formalisation of Memorandum of Understandings between their respective Municipal Councils and the Fiji Police Force.

Made possible with the support of the Australian Government, the signing? conducted yesterday, saw the Presidents of the Market Vendors and Farmers Association ?formalise the partnership with Police, for the purpose of establishing a framework of cooperation and collaboration, for a safe, secure and orderly market environment for vendors, customers, and the general public.

The formalisation of the MOUs is in accordance with the UN Women’s multi-country "Markets for Change" (M4C) project in the Pacific region (Fiji, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu), in partnership with the UNDP and the Australian Government.

The M4C project is a key component of the UN Women's Women's Economic Empowerment program. It aims to ensure that marketplaces are safe, inclusive, and non-discriminatory environments that promote gender equality.
