Closing Protection Training


The Fundamentals of Close Protection Training supported by the United States Government, is currently underway at the Police Mobile Force in Nasinu.

Opening the training was the Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police (A/DCP) Aporosa Lutunauga, where he emphasised the important role played by Close Protection Officers more commonly known as Personal Protection Officers.

“This role shoulders immense responsibility, as you are tasked with on majority of the occasions a VIP or VVIP, whose safety and security are literally in your hands for the entire duration of their visit. “

“Anything that happens to your VVIP, can have devastating impacts on the reputation of your organisation and country. You will be learning the fundamentals, and key to any new role, is to understand the fundamental principles of your roles.”

Fiji Police officers often undertake the role of PPO’s of visiting dignitaries, government officials and VVIPs.

The Acting DCP acknowledged the support of the U.S. Embassy Suva for supporting various police capacity programs, and police cooperation programs.
