The 1?st of October will see the commencement of the joint road safety operations between the Fiji Police Force and the Land Transport Authority of Fiji
The launch was held last Wednesday at the LTA Head Office in Valelevu, and is aimed at curbing speeding, reckless driving, and other dangerous road behaviors, with the ultimate goal of saving lives.
This road safety and enforcement operations was endorsed by the two organisation’s Chief Operations Officers and will run from next month (October 01st) to January 31, 2026.
Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Kasiano Vusonilawe said the Fiji Police Force is committed to working with the LTA preventing the loss of lives.
“Expect more road presence of Police and LTA officers during this period, even checkpoints and spot checks anywhere. Road safety is everyone’s responsibility, and I urge all road users to do their part,” said A/ACP Vusonilawe.
LTA Chief Operating Officer Imran Ali said the initiative would combine enforcement, awareness, and community engagement to reduce accidents, fatalities, and traffic offences during what is traditionally one of the busiest and most high-risk periods on Fiji’s roads.
He said the festive season was marked by an increase in traffic volumes due to holiday travel, social gatherings, and end-of-year celebrations.
