Drug seizure in Kadavu

The Operations Sasamaki Team currently deployed to Kadavu, intercepted a fiber-glass boat last night in open waters, where large bags with parcels of dried leaves believed to be marijuana were seized.

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (A/ACP) Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe said the operations team acted upon information received on the transportation of the alleged illicit substances last night, and intercepted the boat in open waters.

Arrested were five (5) men, who were taken into custody with the alleged illicit substances.

Investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile two people were charged and produced in court for cases of unlawful possession of illicit drugs, namely methamphetamine.

The first accused, a 35-year old residing in Vuci Road, Nausori, was arrested following a search conducted at the Delainavesi road block on the 19th of September, 2025.

The accused was found with a zip lock plastic containing white crystals which tested positive as methamphetamine.

The accused was charged with one count of Unlawful Possession of Illicit Drugs and produced at the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.

In the second case of unlawful possession of illicit drugs, a 29-year old man who was allegedly found with white substances confirmed to be methamphetamine in Nabua on the 19th of September, was also produced in court yesterday.

Acting ACP Vusonilawe said the successful operation was as a result of information sharing, commending members of the public who continue to support the war on drugs.

“As reiterated by the Commissioner, our focus on green and white drugs remains the same. We encourage members of the public to continue sharing information through Crimestoppers on 919 or directly to your Divisional Police Commanders, or to me on 9904 905.”

Operation Sasamaki continues throughout the five policing divisions.
